Deerhurst Resort Wedding Muskoka - Rowell Photography

This year we had the pleasure of visiting Deerhurst Resort several times to photograph some of the most lovely Muskoka weddings. While we have been there many times before for winter Muskoka engagement sessions and elopements, this was the first time we actually got the chance to see the venue and the grounds in the warm weather, and under the hot summer sun. Deerhurst Resort, is stunningly beautiful, surrounded by mature trees of the highlands, and in the centre of a little valley. At sunset the landscape reminded us a bit of the Highlands in Scotland. While it is located on the edge of the Muskoka’s, Deerhurst Resort also borders Algonquin Park, so it makes the perfect wedding location for the outdoorsy couple. This summer we photographed 3 fantastic outdoor weddings around the property and each on was so different and unique in their own way.

Today we bring you the wedding of Katie & Neil. Their beach wedding ceremony on Peninsula Lake, just in the backyard of the resort was colorful, fun, and laid back. Katie & Neil were easy going and their wedding party was hilarious! It was so nice out that evening that we all walked from the beach and across the entire property to the reception hall, taking photos all along the way. It is always a pleasure when we get to work with some of our favorite vendors, and lucky for us, we had the chance to photograph the floral and decor of the one and only Rachel A. Clingen and her team. The reception was an interactive celebration of Katie & Neil, there were lots of laughs, lots of happy tears, and some amazing speeches. As if their day couldn’t get any better, Ryan and I and the newlyweds ended the photography for the night on the back patio, where the sky was a mix of pastels that reminiscent of a watercolor painting.
