Bigwin Island Wedding in Muskoka

Karen & Ross

by Ryan Rowell

Each time we make the trip to Muskoka we discover something new. This time it was the view from the top of the ninth hole at Bigwin Island. The view is majestic! There really isn’t anything quite like it in muskoka that we know of.
Karen and Ross had their wedding at the Bigwin Island Golf Club house that over looks the Lake of Bays. I am sure you all recognize them from their engagement session aboard the Toronto Ferry a few months back. Bigwin Island, at its height during the 1930s set the stage for many renowned musicians who played at the Dance Pavilion. Even since the recent renovations, when you walk around the grounds, or take the ferry over to the the island you still get the sense that this was a very popular place way back when. I can just imagine women with giant  trunks pilled high on the docks as they arrive to Bigwin wearing gowns and the men in suits and tails. Bigwin is still a happening place, well at least it was at Karen and Ross’ Bigwin Island wedding. Guests were shuttled by ferry from the little Norwegian church (Norway Point Church) to the island for cocktails and the reception.

We really loved photographing this wedding, and discovering a few more great locations to add to our best of Muskoka list!

Congratulations & Thanks to Karen & Ross and their families for being so warm and welcoming and the bridal party for making the photos so awesome! We hope you all enjoy these images.

Cheers

& Ryan
