Scenes from a celebration – Christie & Josh – Christie’s Mill

by Ryan Rowell

It has been an amazing year for Rowell Photography. Our business has grown in so many ways.  We are so proud of where our business has taken us and so honored to have met the most amazing couples along the way. So Thank You again to all our 2009 couples.

Now I know there is snow outside and these photos below were taken in June, but we are finally ready to post this beautiful Muskoka wedding. Christie and Josh, a couple we have known for 2 years now, if you frequent this blog much you may remember their engagement session at their cottage in Honey Harbor and their adorable pooch!

Christie and Josh were married June 20th 2009 at The Inn at Christie’s Mill (how fitting) in Port Severn, Ontario which is just a stones throw from us here in Barrie.  Port Severn is rocky cliffs, lakes and quiet neighborhoods, and lots of boating. Its Christie and Josh to a tee. Unfortunately their outdoor wedding and cocktail reception was rained out, and therefore so were the photos. If you saw how many florals Elizabeth from Eventdecorator.com and her crew had put together, you would be upset too.

Christie and Josh were totally calm, and just said well looks like its gonna be an indoor wedding. Ryan and I saw the forecast for the day before we left the house in Barrie and decided to nail down a strategy. The Inn at Christie’s Mill is beautiful! but when you have over 100 people wandering the building when the plan was to have them outside it leaves little space for the bridal party and couple to get away for photos. Luckily eventdecorator.com had built this beautiful arbor covered in flowers that was the perfect background for family photos and they had transformed the hotel lounge into a ceremony. Ryan and I decided to go with a very classic style of shooting. We wanted the images to convey a class that only old black and white movies have, just beautiful portraiture.

We did get lucky and the rain stopped for 10 mins so we all ran outside and took a few shots on the docks.

Weddings are uncontrolled events, you kind of just throw all your ideas into the hands of the professionals and pray that someone upstairs will let the clouds part. But when the clouds don’t part, you still have your professionals!

We hope you enjoy these images, we have been waiting over 7 months to show you all!

Cheers

& Ryan
