Earlier this summer we photographed family portraits for the Clan O’Regan at Wasaga Beach, here in Ontario, Canada. I know, I know this beach looks nothing like the overcrowded gun and bikini show we are used to seeing at the typical Wasaga, and that is mostly because these photos were taken on a weekday in the private beaches area. We had an absolutely stunning day. It was calm, the air was warm, and for the first time in my experience you could actually hear the water and the small waves rushing the beach.

Every year the O’Regan family gathers from all corners of the globe for a week of summer on the water. What I loved most about this shoot was that they completely unplugged from technology. There were no kids running around with iPads, or video games on iPhones, and there were no parents checking into the office every five minutes. There were no crying or screaming kids, no one ran away mid shoot because they were frustrated and no one, for even a second expressed reason not to be there. This is rare, and so very special. The O’Regan’s have this parenting thing down! Everyone was happy, and the kids were free to run along the beach and buddy up with cousins and play board games. There was lots of activity and lots of smiling faces. By far this is our favorite shoot to date and its not because we as photographers did anything different. I am a firm believer that you make your own luck, fun and love in this world and sometimes you are smart enough to hire a professional to capture it.

We want to send a shout out to the entire O’Regan Clan and thank them for their sincere hospitality, their participation, and for being such chill parents and kids. It was out absolute pleasure to photograph you. Oh, and thanks for the salad to go 😉
